Ralph Alvern is a Singaporean Singer-Songwriter who started out from busking in the streets of Singapore to performing on the same stage with the likes of other amazing local talents like Nathan Hartono, ShiGGa Shay and many more. Learning how to play the guitar at a young age, Ralph found his voice, quite literally, at the age of 16 when his friends told him he had a soothing voice.
Now, at the age of 26, with over 200+ original songs under his belt, Ralph is currently working on releasing an EP which will be out late 2024. Drawing inspiration from Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Kehlani, Thuy, Hozier, PJ Morton, Eminem and many more, his debut single titled ‘Over The Phone’ is a pop-electronic bop with R&B and hip-hop influences and has received more than 1,000,000 streams currently.
“From the moment my fingers made that first strum on my Raffles MR, I knew that it was the one. I tried over 70 guitars before that, including the big brands and even boutique guitars. Nothing was as responsive and balanced to what I need than what I had my hands on. The deep bass coupled together with just the right amount of clarity on the trebles really complimented my style as a Singer-Songwriter. And as someone who has dabbled into the world of Fingerstyle, I could really appreciate the attention to the overtones and projection on the guitar.
The Soundport and Beveled Armrest really does help out the guitarist in such a big way. We as musicians don’t really know what it feels like to have such an ergonomic option on a dear instrument until we try it.”
